Shan Wu & Drew Cavicchi are an artist duo working predominantly in film, video installation, photography, and conceptual work. They combine their specialty in image making with data collection, computer programming, and A.I. Their collaborative projects focus on process based work, the impact of technology in culture, and examining the human-nature relationship. Their collaborative works have been exhibited in the Santa Paula Art Museum, National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, and CultureHub, Los Angels. Their collaborative film project Wild Grass has screened internationally.
The on-going landscape series between Shan Wu and Drew Cavicchi started in 2019. The sereis of works containing photographs, installations, and sculptures that explore progression, aesthetics, illusion, and implied structure. They collides human-made structure with landscape, exposing the idea of framing, boundaries, perceptions, and the relationship between human and nature.
They met through mutual interests for photography, art, and social studies when they both lived in Taiwan. They took street photography, developed film, learned the technology and critiqued their images. This integral aspect of photography has continued to influence their art practice to this day.
